About the event
The Corner House Jazz Band plays traditional jazz with a hard driving style, and is one of Australia’s most accomplished jazz bands. The band was formed in 1980, playing at the Railway Hotel, North Fremantle, and still plays at the Swan Hotel nearby every Saturday afternoon. They have had 20 years years performing Friday night gigs at the famous Jazz Cellar in Mount Hawthorn. The Cellar is always jumpin' with the band's pumping and nostalgic repertoire that includes New Orleans Jazz, the Chicago sounds of the roaring 20s, Swing, the Duke Ellington jungle sounds of the Cotton Club in Harlem, Louis Armstrong’s Hot Fives and Sevens, and J.P. Sousa Marches, and… much, much more. The Cornerhouse Jazz Band has toured overseas, twice to the USA, to Malaysia, Japan, New Zealand and Borneo, and have played in all the Australian states.
Please note: Doors will open from 6:00PM this week, so that those who wish to may view a short film about the Jazz Club of WA’s recent 40th anniversary celebrations.
Film screening (30 min) from 6:30PM to 7:00 PM
