Doctor Jazz

Doctor Jazz have been playing at the Jazz Club for many years; their first jazz club gig was in 1998 at the Hyde Park Hotel when their singer, Tristan, was 14 years old! They play many traditional jazz favourites, American song book classics and jazz numbers from the great British jazz revival period, such as Acker Bilk and the Chris Barber Band.

From time to time the band has to adjust to a change in the line up due to the loss of a player because they have retired and in a couple of cases recently a band member has passed. This time their much-loved pianist Dave Cowie has decided it is time to retire and we thank him for his wonderful support and his unique style of playing over the last 3 -4 decades.

“Dr Jazz” are pleased to introduce their new pianist in her debut at the Club – Ali McKenzie. Ali is a classical pianist who trained at WAAPA . She has recently retired from her academic career and has decided to turn her attention to have some fun playing jazz. Please give her a big welcome.
