About the event
The Kent St Riverside Stompers originated from a group of musicians who meet for coffee at the Kent St Café. They wanted to use the bass sax as the bass instrument - a style promoted by the great Bix Beiderbeck Band in the late 1920’s. The bass saxophone they use is one hundred years old – made in 1923 (and the player is only slightly younger!) The program they’ve curated will be interesting and entertaining for the audience, empathetic towards the dancers, and will certainly be enjoyable for the band to play.
