About the event
The Kent Street Riverside Stompers play 1920-1940 jazz. It was not uncommon to use a bass sax for the bass line in the era, for example Bix Beiderbeck’s band and some Louis Armstrong line-ups. It emphasises a rather laid back 2 beats to the bar rhythm and of course this was a golden era of song writing.
The band has a wonderful front line of very talented players – Steve Searle, Mike Weise, and Bill McAlister, and in the back line, in addition to Bob Appleyard on vocals and drums, Tony Eardley on piano and Martin Jones on bass sax, welcome a new band member – Aaron Woolley on guitar.
